AlunaGeorge: My Sound Of 2013.

AlunaGeorge, most famous for their recent collaboration with Disclosure, are fast becoming one of my favourite artists of 2013, despite gaining 0 marks for originality of name - their blend of members Aluna Francis and George Reid has fake echoes of that X Factor audition:
"Hi I'm John. And I'm Edward. And together we're John and Edward"
What they lack in group name, they certainly make up for in their music.
The sharp contrast between the soft, almost retro 50s, voice of Aluna Francis, and the futuristic production from George Reid makes AlunaGeorge incomparable to any other artist on today's music scene.
My personal favourite, after discovering their Spotify and listening to it on repeat for weeks, is 'You Know You Like It'; it's brilliantly simple and catchy, and has been stuck in my head even more than "Just Noise, White Noise", even with the multiple Facebook statuses repeating that one line.
Their newest release was premiered by Radio One's very own Zane Lowe, which gives an indication into the future of the group. 'Attracting Flies' is officially released on March 10, but available to listen to now on AlunaGeorge's Spotify page or their SoundCloud. It's worth a listen.
If you don't want to trust me and my music tastes (those of you who personally know me probably won't) then trust the experts: AlunaGeorge was shortlisted for both the Critics' Choice Award at this year's BRITs as well as the BBC Sound of 2013 award, in which they came second.
The 'sound' of 2013 has already distanced itself from 2012, promising lots of new talent and more interesting music. The electronic-pop vibe of AlunaGeorge is calmed by the vocals, ensuring it's not so full on, or heavy, that you'll get easily annoyed.
If you love Disclosure's 'White Noise', then you're bound to enjoy AlunaGeorge's collection. And even if you don't, you still should listen to AlunaGeorge, 'cos they're going to be big very soon.

'Attracting Flies' out March 10
'Body Music' debut album out July 1, Island Records.
