I feel a duty to promote this band, because they're reside not too far from where I live. This isn't the only reason I'm doing it though, they do deserve more recognition for their sound. I feel they will start getting this after their position supporting Biffy Clyro on their Opposites tour (even if this was just for the Newcastle date).
I have to admit I was pretty gutted when I found out City & Colour weren't able to support Biffy on the date I was going to see them; I adore City & Colour and was arguably just as, if not more, excited to see them perform. But once it was announced Little Comets were stepping in, I got over my disappointment as I knew I was still going to get a good performance and sound.
As lead vocalist Robert Cole said in their set last night: "we usually play little pubs around Newcastle, maybe sometimes some slightly bigger pubs", so to see them really energise a full arena and (sorry to sound like Louis Walsh) make it their own not only filled me with pride but also highlighted the potential of this band.
The only thing wrong with their set last night was they chose the wrong song to end on! Dancing Song really should have been their closing song, as it was the one that got the crowd going the most. Instead, the song they chose was ruined by the distraction of 5 condom balloons floating about the front of the crowd.
Stay classy North-East.
Other than that though, I really can't fault their performance or albums. You should definitely check them out; listen to their SoundCloud here.
Little Comets will also be starting a new tour in April 2013. For all dates and venues, check their website here.
