Twitter Find Of The Day: Village Green.

Classic British indie rock has been reintroduced into my playlist thanks to the brilliantly talented Village Green. The group (who are coincidentally from my hometown!) followed me on Twitter recently, and after checking out their Facebook page and SoundCloud, I am already excited to see them perform at some point in the near future!
Village Green are a 5 piece rock band, very reminiscent of britpop artists Oasis, who create tracks that are not only unbelievably catchy, but also music that makes you feel positive and inspired. It's the kind of music that you need to listen to before a stressful day to get you motivated; the kind of music which makes you want to sit in the garden with a union jack flag drinking beer; the kind of music which makes you want to express yourself the way these guys do.

The track Blinded By The Glow is particularly reminiscent of Oasis, in my opinion. The multitude of textures in the track, from the soft beat to the unusual use of the piano to the stripped back vocals, make the track a captivating listen.
The track immediately after this on SoundCloud is my favourite track of their whole collection; It Hurts is unbelievably emotive and I love how the vocals are overwhelmed by the percussion in parts as it really intensifies the rawness of the lyrics. The lead vocals by Andy Granville are truly spectacular. I love how 'blokey' they are; nobody wants pitch perfect synthetic vocals because they just can't be matched in a live environment. With the natural huskiness of his tones, you can be assured that what you see is what you get with this band. The guitar riff at the end of the track is also really impressive, and I can only begin to imagine how amazing it would sound live!
It's really heartwarming to see how down to earth and lovely these guys are. Flicking through their Facebook page (search 'Village Green Music') I can't help but smile at the little witty comments on their personal profile, as well as some humorous pictures concerning tape and pints! They've also been really responsive and kind on Twitter, instructing me to come say hello when I go see them live!
Village Green play loads of gigs in and around Middlesbrough, so if you're from the North East like me, you have no excuse not to see them! The band have promised lots more gigs after their break to Glastonbury (lucky fellas!) so I will keep an eye out and keep you posted; I personally can't wait to see the band live!
News of a second single should be released in the next few months too, and if it's half as good as Carnaby Street, it'll be worth your while.
